Frequently Asked Questions

Unified commerce

Q: What is the difference between unified commerce and omnichannel?

A: Omnichannel focuses on giving customers multiple ways to shop, such as in-store, online and mobile. In an omnichannel environment, channels may still run on separate systems that are linked together. Unified commerce goes further by connecting those channels through a single platform and shared data model. In a unified commerce environment, pricing, inventory, customer data, orders and fulfilment are managed in one connected system. This gives retailers better visibility, fewer integration issues and a more consistent customer experience.

Q: What is the Infinity unified commerce platform?

A: Infinity is a unified commerce platform for retailers that connects point of sale, inventory, customer management, pricing, promotions, order management and fulfilment in one system. It helps retailers improve visibility across stores and channels and reduce complexity caused by disconnected retail systems.

Q: What problems does Infinity help retailers solve?

A: Infinity centralises customer and inventory data to remove the channel silos created by running separate systems. This gives staff and customers accurate, shared visibility across channels and locations, eliminating friction such as one channel being unable to see what a customer is doing on another.

Q: Which geographical region is Infinity available in?

A: Infinity can be used globally, but most of our customers are in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific.

Inventory

Q: How does Infinity improve inventory visibility across stores and channels?

A: Infinity improves inventory visibility by centralising stock data across stores, warehouses and fulfilment locations. This gives retailers a near real-time view of what stock is available, where it is located and how it can be used to support sales, transfers and omnichannel fulfilment.

Q: What stock ordering and replenishment options does Infinity support?

A: Infinity supports automatic and manual purchase orders based on sales history and stock quantity settings. Purchasing can be managed at either head office or at branch level in multi-branch businesses, and it can be centralised for all branches. The system uses historical sales data for demand forecasting, supports replenishment requests from branches to head office, and enables easy stock transfers between branches to respond to customer demand.

Customers and loyalty

Q: How does Infinity manage customer loyalty?

A: Infinity manages customer loyalty by supporting points, rewards, memberships and personalised offers across all sales channels. Retailers can create loyalty programmes for multiple brands, each with its own rules for earning and redeeming points.

Infinity gives you:

  • Paid, spend-based and tiered memberships that automatically move customers between levels based on points thresholds.
  • Points viewed, collected and redeemed across channels via APIs, with rules based on payment type, product, customer type, department, branch or item.
  • Welcome offers, redemption offers and event-triggered promotions such as birthday rewards or points-expiry reminders.
  • Accumulate-and-reward promotions — a digital stamp card — for tracking progress toward rewards such as buy 10, get 1 free, in any channel.
Q: How are promotions and discounts handled in Infinity?

A: Infinity offers comprehensive complex pricing and promotional capabilities. You can create promotional cycles with start and end dates, set up branch-specific or global promotions, and configure selling rules for single quantities, multi-buys, combination specials and product bundles, as well as for volume pricing. Customers always receive the best price, with the option to override this for trade or contract pricing and for staff.

You also get:

  • Discounts at any level of the product hierarchy, applied to a total sale, individual lines, or pro-rata across a sale.
  • Buy-one-get-one-free (BOGOF) offers.
  • Bounce-back coupons to encourage repeat visits.
  • Discount groups for targeting specific customers.
  • Controls to prevent staff from applying discounts to specific sales or lines.

Point of sale

Q: What does Infinity POS do?

A: Infinity POS is a point of sale system for stores. It is designed to process sales quickly and to provide flexibility. It supports:

  • Splitting payments across multiple payment methods.
  • Switching between sales and suspending sales to return to them later.
  • Quick quantity entry, so staff scan an item once when selling multiples.
  • Processing sales and returns in the same transaction.
  • Manager approval requirements for maximum sale totals, line totals and refund amounts.
  • Out-of-stock warnings and reason capture for returns, discounts or price changes.
  • Returns verification, ensuring refund quantities and prices match the original transaction.
Q: What payment methods and integrations does Infinity POS support?

A: Infinity POS supports a wide range of payment methods and integrations to meet diverse customer preferences. For EFTPOS processing, Infinity integrates with leading providers including Adyen, Windcave, PC-EFTPOS, Quest, Tyro, Verifone, Smartpay (Shift4), Skyzer and NETS. The system also supports gift card sales, redemptions and balance checks from providers such as epay, as well as loyalty program integration for points collection, redemption and customer offers. For digital receipts, Slyp integration allows customers to receive itemised receipts directly in their banking app. International payment methods include Alipay and WeChat Pay.

Order fulfilment

Q: Does Infinity support click-and-collect and ship-from-store?

A: Yes. Infinity supports multiple fulfilment options. Items can be taken at time of sale; delivered from store, warehouse or DC; collected from any nominated store; drop-shipped direct from the supplier to the customer; and fulfilled through a third-party logistics provider.

Q: How does Infinity manage customer orders?

A: Infinity manages the complete lifecycle of customer orders across all sales channels. It captures orders, routes them to the appropriate fulfilment locations, tracks their status and ensures timely delivery while providing visibility to both staff and customers. It captures orders at the Point of Sale (POS) and via APIs from any channel, including ecommerce, mobile apps and call centres and then applies applicable inventory, pricing and customer rules automatically. Orders are visible on a dashboard so they can be monitored, managed and rerouted as needed. Service level agreement target alerts are supported.

Fuel integrations

Q: Does Infinity integrate with forecourt controllers?

Q: Does Infinity handle wet stock reconciliation?

A: Yes. Infinity handles wet stock reconciliation as part of its fuel retail capabilities. It supports key wet-stock processes such as tank dips, tanker deliveries, price changes and reconciliations, helping fuel retailers compare delivered, stored and sold fuel data more accurately across the forecourt and back office. This gives operators better visibility into fuel movements, supports exception management and helps improve control over wet-stock reporting.

Architecture

Q: How is the Infinity platform structured?

A: Infinity has a three-tier setup: a central Head Office system, and store-level Back Office and Point of Sale components.

Q: What type of retailers use Infinity?

A: Infinity is used by large multi-store retail chains, franchises and single standalone stores. Multi-store businesses carry out key functions, such as reporting, either centrally for all stores, or at the local store level. Data flows seamlessly from one level of your business to another, from the head office to the store and on to the point of sale. Multi-store retailers and franchises can also restrict store data access to stores within the same operating group, to preserve security and confidentiality.
Standalone stores get many of the same benefits, including full control over all data and virtually real-time updates to the point of sale.

Q: Can Infinity handle high transaction volumes?

Yes. Infinity supports near real-time data sharing while maintaining high transaction volumes and enabling stores to continue critical trade activities during network outages.

Implementation

Q: How long does it take to deploy Infinity?

A: Implementation timing depends on scope (stores, integrations, channels, data migration) and operating model. It’s possible to implement Infinty in a very short timeframe, but what matters most is choosing an approach that reduces custom integration work by centralising core functions and exposing data through APIs. That typically shortens complexity compared with maintaining many fragile, bespoke connections between systems.

Q: Can Infinity scale across regions?
